Tuesday, July 12th

So we checked out the polo matches nearby where we are staying in July. It was such a fun time! Polo field RIGHT along the beach, so Ren and I took a dip mid way through the games. People pull up their cars along side the field and tailgate, we are talking barbecue grills, coolers, music, chairs, the works! It was a great day. Gallagher even got to tag along, but napped under the car most of the time.
Today we are hanging around, we DID find a local barber who cut Ren's crazy hair for me. Now he's got a nice summer cut! We are cleaning up and preparing for our friend Jenny and her kids arrival today! Ren is very excited to have visitors. We have lots of activities planned...
Today we saw a baby sea turtle from our balcony lounging in the sand out front so we ran down with our camera and got a few pics before he/she scooted back into the ocean. They don't usually crawl up onto shore here so that was a treat! Think I'll call her Molly...
Okay, I'll try to post again in a few days with news of our fun with the Carter Family.
Love to you all!

Sunday

Can you believe I have no idea what today's date actually is?  haha! Vacation life!
Yesterday we had an awesome day at "Shark's Cove" up here. Great cove where Ren found immediate play dates in the sand and surf and Dutch and I took turns snorkeling. Saw some beautiful colorful fish.  It rained off and on throughout the day, but didn't really scare people away as it gets sunny several minutes later.

Today Dutch took a motorcycle ride, then came back and washed it. We are getting ready to leave and go to the Polo Fields nearby to watch the American team play agains New Zealand. Apparently it is a fun, local spot on Sundays right along the beach with live bands, bbcue, and tailgating. So we have our own cooler ready with beach chairs and will head out soon.

Gallagher got some good exercise this morning on the beach out front. I let him off the leash and threw the tennis ball about 25 times. He is passed out now so it must have pooped him out. Running in sand sure isn't easy!

Jenny and her kids arrive on Tuesday and I'm excited to have company and show them around. I saved a few of the touristy things for when they come. Ok, love to you all!

Our new digs on North Shore

Our bedroom overlooking ocean  View into kitchen and back bedroom
4th of July at Turtle Bay Resort, Fireworks were fantastic
Here are my boys enjoying a snow cone...

Well, we've been here for about 4 days and love it! I am spoiled and won't want to leave the North Shore area. No big hotels up here, the locals like it simple and without commercialism.  Our place, although small, seems to be working well. Ren and I go to the little beach area down the street and then head back to the condo to do a swim in the small pool area here...

Okay, that's it for now. Dutch rented a Harry Potter movie so we're going to watch it now. Love to you all...

READY TO VACATE!

Well, only one more day in this motel room until we vacate this room and move to our temporary condo up in the beautiful North Shore! Can't wait to be on the water and watch the sea turtles from our window. The North Shore is much further than I remembered, but close to the Dole Pineapple Plantation and beautiful beach spots so think we'll just hang out up there for the month of July.  Jenny and her kids arrive July 12th and although we'll be a bit cramped, it will work. I am finally getting to know my way around a bit, this island is HUGE with millions of people living here which means lots of traffic. Don't know what I was thinking, but I didn't expect all of these people!
Got Ren enrolled in Nimitz Elementary School which starts on Aug. 1st. The same day we move into our house on base.  I've done some research and it seems pretty good. I spoke to the principal about subbing there while also picking his mind about what they do/teach/collaborate there, he said all the right things that made me think this is a good school.
Ok, I'll add some pictures soon!

Monday, June 27

Well, we're off to get out of this room today! Going to go try and enroll Ren into school at Hickam Elementary which won't technically be our home school but I've researched and like them.  Fingers crossed! Ren is dying to hit the beach again, so Dutch showed us a private beach on Hickam base so we'll head there today.  More later!!
